Chemours to Showcase Award Winning Products and New Interactive Guide to Global Refrigerant Regulations & Solutions at the 2018 AHR Expo

WILMINGTON, Del., January 22, 2018 – The Chemours Company (Chemours) (NYSE: CC), a global market leader in titanium technologies, fluoroproducts, and chemical solutions, will showcase its Opteon™ and Freon™ portfolio of refrigerants, including award winning Opteon™ XP44, at the 2018 AHR Expo in Chicago, Illinois, and will also launch a new online interactive global refrigerant regulations and solutions tool that offers a simplified approach to navigating regulatory landscape.

Highlighted at the Chemours booth will be Opteon™ XP44 (R-452A), winner of the 2018 AHR Expo Innovation Award in Refrigeration, and Opteon™ XP40 (R-449A), Finalist for the 2017 AHR Expo Innovation Award. Opteon™ XP44 and Opteon™ XP40 are part of a complete portfolio of Opteon™ low GWP refrigerants, which allow HVACR equipment manufacturers, contractors, and end-users to “Opt for better” by using hydrofluroolefin (HFO)-based, energy efficient solutions that provide the optimal balance of performance, environmental sustainability, safety, and cost.

Opteon™ XP44, a non-flammable (A1) direct replacement for R-404A/507, provides a GWP reduction of ~50%. It has the closest match to the compressor discharge temperature and mass flow rate of any other low GWP solution on the market, eliminating the need for costly system changes. Commercialized in Europe in 2014, Opteon™ XP44 gained broad acceptance with refrigerated transportation and hermetic compressor equipment manufacturers.  In July 2017, it was added to the US EPA SNAP ‘acceptable’ list for use in new and retrofit refrigerated transport applications as well as condensing units.  In equipment that does not require a close discharge temperature match, Opteon™ XP40 (R-449A) is a non-flammable replacement for both R-404A and R-22 equipment, that offers even further GWP reduction - 67% lower GWP than 404A.  XP40 has helped thousands of major supermarket and commercial refrigeration users worldwide reduce energy consumption up to 12%.

“Beyond the development of industry-leading products, Chemours is also committed to providing education to HVACR stakeholders on regulatory requirements, global trends, and technical information, enabling them to ultimately choose the right product for their application,” said Diego Boeri, Vice President of Chemours Fluorochemicals.  To that end, Chemours is excited to announce the launch of its new Interactive Guide to Global Refrigerant Regulations and Solutions at the AHR Expo, an online tool that provides individuals an opportunity to navigate to their country or region of interest, learn about the key regulations driving changes, select their market/application of interest, and find high performance products to meet their needs.
