Established in 1967, as Mississippi’s first chemical company, the First Chemical Corporation, a Chemours company, is located in the Bayou Cassotte Industrial Park in Jackson County, Mississippi. The plant is a leading producer of aniline intermediates and derivatives as well as nitrobenzene. These chemicals are the key ingredients in many of the items we use every day, including:
- Automotive parts
- Agricultural chemicals
- Building materials
We take pride in our commitment to use new technology to positively impact people’s lives through the production of useful chemical products.
We’re proud to support local initiatives like the United Way of Jackson and George Counties, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Chemistry Camp, the Nature Conservancy of Mississippi, and other community and environmental organizations. On average, we invest $40,000 annually in STEM-based college scholarships for local high school students. We also strongly encourage our employees’ volunteerism in the community.
Our site also maintains a community advisory panel (CAP) comprised of representatives from business and community associations, local elected officials, and nearby residents. CAP meetings provide an opportunity for participants to identify and discuss key areas of interest or concern and learn more about our products and business.
