Freon™ offers cost-effective retrofit solutions for the HCFC Phaseout
The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration industry is facing a serious challenge—current EU regulations have prevented the use of virgin R-22 refrigerant for servicing installed equipment since 1 January 2010 and will not allow the use of recycled or reclaimed R-22 beyond 31 December 2014.
Outside of the EU R-22 phaseout has begun in all countries that follow the Montreal Protocol. This means that equipment still operating with R-22 will either need to be replaced or retrofitted to a non-ozone-depleting refrigerant.
Freon™ refrigerants are a complete family of non-ozone-depleting HFC retrofit refrigerants that offer cost-effective retrofit options to address this critical issue in direct expansion systems. Unlike other HFC refrigerants, in many cases Freon™ refrigerants may use the same type of oils commonly used with R-22 (e.g. mineral or alkyl benzene based) with minimal component changes saving time and money whilst achieving compliance with legislation and delivering the performance to enable your system to continue running to the end of its useful life.
This information provides everything you need to select and use the optimum Freon™ refrigerant for your application.
