Plunkett Awards—2018

Dr. Roy Plunkett (1911-1994) discovered PTFE (branded Teflon™) in 1938. He has been recognized the world over by scientific, academic and civic communities. He was inducted into the Plastics Hall of Fame in 1973, and, in 1985, into the National Inventors' Hall of Fame joining, such distinguished scientists and innovators as Thomas Edison, Louis Pasteur and the Wright brothers

The spirit of invention with Chemours fluoropolymers that originated with Dr. Plunkett will be commemorated globally with the Chemours Plunkett Awards for innovation in fluoropolymers in 2018.

  • Chemours will host a global Plunkett Awards event in New York City, USA in the Fall of 2018 (tentative).
  • The Plunkett Awards are open to processors or users of fabricated products who have devised new or improved products or applications incorporating Chemours fluoropolymers.
  • This year, we are expanding the awards beyond the Teflon™ brand to recognize advancements in products and applications across the entire Chemours fluoropolymer portfolio, including Krytox™ lubricants, Viton™ fluoroelastomers, and Nafion™ ion-exchange materials.
  • Entries will be considered globally from three regions: the Americas, Europe/Middle East/Africa, and Asia Pacific.
