Fry-Less 'Fried' Boardwalk Scoops

Get the Skillet!

Salty/sweet scents of the beach make up our mock fried ice cream scoops rolled in crushed baked tortilla chips and seasonings to give the fried taste, but no dipping in vats of oil in this recipe.




1 half gallon ice cream, slightly soft

½ stick butter

3 cups plain (baked) pita chips, coarsely crushed​​​

1½ teaspoons each: paprika, chili powder

½ teaspoon sea salt

Chocolate syrup

Whipped Cream

Fresh Summer Cherries

Mint Leaves


Fry-less Boardwalk Scoops in a bowl.

Use round scooper to place ice cream balls on baking sheets; refreeze. Meanwhile, melt butter in a medium skillet coated with Teflon™ nonstick. Mix crushed chips with paprika, chili, salt. Toast in pan about a minute, stirring constantly over medium-low heat until golden; do not brown; reserve off heat. When ready to serve, roll frozen scoops in toasted chips; finish with suggested or desired toppings; serve immediately.
