Cheesy Baked Bean Recipe

Baked beans are a summer rite of passage and this new twist will become a classic with mixed beans, aromatic herbs and nutty baked cheese.




1 tablespoon olive oil

2 tablespoons minced fresh sage leaves

2 large cloves garlic, finely chopped

2½ cups diced (canned) tomatoes

¼ cup honey

½ teaspoon sweet (smoky) paprika

3-3½ cup mix drained cannellini & kidney beans

½ cup smoked Gouda cheese (with bacon, optional)

¼ cup crumbled Feta

½ teaspoon or to taste red pepper flakes

¼ cup grated Asiago cheese

Preheat oven to 325°. Heat oil on stovetop over medium to infuse with sage a few minutes in a medium ovenproof saucepan with Teflon™ nonstick coating; add onions, garlic browning lightly. Add tomatoes; cook to thicken 8 minutes. Stir in honey and paprika, beans. Fold in cheeses. Transfer to oven and bake 35-40 minutes until beans pull from pan edges. Let set10 minutes before serving.
