Minimal Environmental Impact

Opteon™ YF offers nearly identical performance and operating characteristics to R-134a, but with a much lower GWP–even lower than CO2–and a fraction of the atmospheric lifetime.

Superior Performance

Opteon™ YF boasts improved life cycle performance compared to HFC-134a, particularly in high-temperature climates. It also offers comparable energy efficiency and cooling capacity, making it an ideal global alternative.

Safety Assurance

Automotive OEMs safely use flammable fluids in vehicles every day—from gasoline to transmission fluid. While Opteon™ YF (HFO-1234yf) is mildly flammable, it has the lowest flammability of all engine compartment fluids. Extensive testing has shown that it is difficult to ignite, unless exposed to a direct flame or a red-hot exhaust manifold.

Industry Leading Capacity

Chemours is the world’s leading producer of HFO-1234yf. Our world class facilities allow us to meet the growing needs of the industry for high quality, sustainable automotive refrigerants. In May of 2016 we announced that we plan to triple our capacity of HFO-1234yf by investing in a large-scale manufacturing facility at our Corpus Christi site in Ingleside, Texas. The investment will create the world's largest manufacturing facility of HFOs and will allow us to efficiently serve the growing market for these products in North America and Europe, as well as the rest of the world.

Opteon™ YF cools and operates like HFC-134a in automotive air conditioning systems, but with significantly less environmental impact, not only meeting, but exceeding current regulations.
