Capstone® Fluorosurfactant 1490
Developed specifically to enhance the performance of protein-based firefighting foam concentrates, Capstone® fluorosurfactant 1490 is a safe and highly effective film-forming agent that provides superior burn-back resistance against non-polar and polar liquid fires.
It works in three key ways: significantly reduces the surface tension of aqueous solutions and foaming solutions; dramatically improves the alcohol resistance ability of foams; and decreases the vapor permeability of foams. As a result, firefighting foams made with Capstone® fluorosurfactant 1490 aid in extinguishing fires quickly, which helps to protect assets and personnel.
In addition to equipping firefighters to effectively combat Class B fires, Capstone® fluorosurfactant 1490 is part of the Capstone® fluorosurfactant portfolio based on short-chain chemistry that provides more sustainable solutions with maximum performance.
Extensive environmental, health and safety testing, conducted as part of the formal Chemours Product Stewardship program, provides data demonstrating that Capstone® fluorosurfactant 1490 is safe for people and the environment. What’s more, it is rated as non-flammable and non-hazardous according to the Global Harmonized System (GHS).
Capstone® fluorosurfactant 1490 is suitable for use in fluoroprotein foams (FP), film-forming fluoroprotein foams (FFFP), alcohol-resistant foams (AFFF-AR/FFFP-AR) and aqueous film-forming foams (AFFF).
